South Asian Support Agency Finds Interim Executive

South Asian Support Agency Finds Interim Executive

For more than thirty years, SAHARA, the South Asian Helpline and Referral Agency, has served survivors of all forms of abuse in the South Asian community of Southern California by providing them with culturally-sensitive and linguistically-specific services. Third Sector Company is proud to announce that Pam Jacobson is serving as Interim Executive Director for the Artesia, California organization.

Pam is a graduate of Interim Executives Academy Class #7 and has 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience as executive director and chief programs officer in human services organizations, including serving as interim executive director for organizations in southern California.

I love serving as an Interim Executive, as it exposes me to different cultures and people across the sector,” said Pam. “SAHARA is located in ‘Little India,’ an area of Artesia, CA with very deep roots in the South Asian community. Teamwork in this setting involves breaking midday for shared meals and connection. The camaraderie carries over into work activities in this incredibly supportive atmosphere. It is an honor to serve SAHARA as they transition into their next chapter and prepare for substantial growth.”

Pam previously served as Interim Executive Director of Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Long Beach. She held executive positions at Tierra del Sol and the ALS Association, Golden West Chapter. She holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin, an MS from the University of Washington in Seattle and an MBA from the University of Judaism in Los Angeles.

All of the Third Sector Company community sends our best wishes to Pam and our thanks to the leadership at SAHARA for putting their trust in the people, teachings and programs of Third Sector Company that have served community impact organizations over the past 20 years.

SAHARA was founded on the belief that services should be offered in a culturally sensitive environment where individuals feel a sense of safety, connectedness, respect, and dignity. Guided by this philosophy, SAHARA has evolved into a well-respected organization with an unwavering commitment to the South Asian community. SAHARA, meaning “support” in Hindi, was established in 1991 by a dedicated group of five clinical social workers and two physicians who came together to meet the needs of the South Asian community in Southern California. Over the last 30 years, SAHARA has expanded its programs to include a robust menu of culturally sensitive and linguistically specific services focused on improving the quality of life of individuals seeking support.

Third Sector Company and the graduates of Interim Executives Academy are available to provide vetted, highly-trained nonprofit interim executive leadership.
