School for Autism Spectrum Learners Brings In Interim Leader

Third Sector Company is pleased to announce that Deb Merle has been selected as the Interim Executive Director of the Academy for Precision Learning (APL) in Seattle, Washington.

Founded in 2007, APL is an inclusive K-12 school serving students across the autism spectrum along with their typically developing peers in an inclusive, academically challenging and socially vibrant environment.

Deb said of the engagement, “I am honored to have been chosen by the APL Board to serve as their Interim Executive Director.”

“The school community’s unwavering commitment to meeting each student’s needs in an inclusive environment is awesome and inspiring. I’m looking forward to connecting with students and their families, and the dedicated school and clinical staff who serve them.”

During Deb’s career in public education research, advocacy and policymaking, she worked to advance equity with a focus on how best to equip vulnerable communities, students of color, and low-income students for success in college. Deb earned her B.A. in Political Science and her M.A. in Educational Psychology, both from the University of Washington.

Deb has served as Interim Executive Director of ECOSS and Equal Opportunity Schools, earning the honor of “Interim of the Year” for 2019, Third Sector Company’s highest national honor that recognizes professionals for providing exemplary transitional leadership to nonprofit organizations, associations and congregations.
