New Interim Leader for California Social Justice Agency

Third Sector Company is pleased to announce that Janet Schulman has started as Interim Executive Director of Program for Torture Victims (PTV).


PTV rebuilds the lives of immigrant survivors of torture and persecution from over 70 countries who have stood up for freedom, democracy, and human dignity. It is the first of its kind organization in the United States.


Janet stated, “I am impressed with both the staff and the board at PTV. I look forward to working with them so that they can better meet their very critical cause of providing refugees and displaced immigrants asylum in California.” She added, “It is always an honor for me to be part of Third Sector Company and to be working with a community of friends and colleagues.”


Janet is one of the pioneers of Third Sector Company. In 2006, she was named Interim of the Year by Third Sector Company for her outstanding contributions to the profession as Interim CEO of Bienvenidos Children’s Center in Altadena, California. Janet has also served as a senior advisor to countless Third Sector Company interims. Today, Janet is a member of the Interim Executives Roundtable leadership team and is an integral part of the Third Sector Company community.


Janet Schulman, MSW, MPA, has more than 25 years of executive experience in the nonprofit sector. Janet previously served as CEO of Special Olympics Southern California and was the founding Executive Director of Big Sisters of Los Angeles. Further, she has served as an Interim Executive Director/CEO of Bienvenidos, Westside Children’s Center, and the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce.
