Lovisa Stannow

Third Sector Company is pleased to announce that Lovisa Stannow has been selected as Interim Executive Director of the California Environmental Justice Alliance in Oakland, California.

The California Environmental Justice Alliance is a statewide, community-led alliance that works to achieve environmental justice by advancing policy solutions. CEJA unites the powerful local organizing of members in the communities most impacted by environmental hazards – low-income communities and communities of color  – to create comprehensive opportunities for change at a statewide level to alleviate poverty and pollution.

I am honored and excited to join the California Environmental Justice Alliance as its Interim Executive Director,” says Lovisa. “CEJA is a crucial and dynamic voice in the fight for environmental justice. CEJA recognizes that no one organization can win by itself; we need to be in a strategic alliance with each other to address the root causes of environmental and climate injustice.”

Lovisa is a graduate of Interim Executives Academy Class #8 and has spent the past three decades working as a social justice advocate, leading nonprofit organizations in the United States and internationally. Lovisa is the former long-time Executive Director of Just Detention International, an international human rights organization that seeks to end sexual abuse in all forms of detention. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the Pacific Institute for Women’s Health and the West Coast Director and Communications Director of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières. In the 1990s, Lovisa served as a Press Officer for Amnesty International, following several years as a journalist in Europe and Latin America.

All of the Third Sector Company community sends our best to Lovisa and our thanks to the leadership at CEJA for putting their trust in the people, teachings and programs of Third Sector Company that have served nonprofits over the past 20 years.
