Grassroots Strategy Center Finds Interim Executive

Third Sector Company is thrilled to announce that Paul Castro has been selected as the Interim Executive Director of the Center for Story-based Strategy in Oakland, California.

Center for Story-based Strategy (CSS) cultivates imagination spaces where story, grassroots leadership, organizing, and democracy are interwoven strategies to build power. A story-based strategy is a participatory approach that links movement building with an analysis of narrative power and places storytelling at the center of social change.

“It is a privilege to have been selected to join a team of skilled and visionary professionals as CSS’s Interim Executive Director,” said Paul of his engagement. “Story-based strategy is an important tool for shifting the narrative discourse and re-imagining change through the power of stories and storytelling. I look forward to supporting this important and influential work.”

Paul is a graduate of Interim Executives Academy Class #2 and has over 40 years of professional and volunteer experience in the nonprofit sector. He has served as Interim Vice-President for the National Network to End Domestic Violence and Interim Executive Director for the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence. In 2018, Paul retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles. He has dedicated his career to furthering the opportunities for underserved and marginalized communities in the areas of social justice, philanthropy, and fundraising. PaulĀ graduated from California State University at Fullerton with a B.A. in ethnic studies and holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School.

All of the Third Sector Company community sends our best wishes to Paul and our thanks to the leadership at the Center for Story-based Strategy for putting their trust in the people, teachings and programs of Third Sector Company that have served nonprofits over the past 20 years.
