Third Sector Company is pleased to share that Cynthia Setel is Interim Executive Director at King Conservation District (KCD) in Renton, WA.
Cynthia is a graduate of Interim Executives Academy Class #7 and brings years of nonprofit executive and government leadership. Cynthia is adept at turn-arounds, diagnosing why agencies are struggling and working with staff to identify and implement data-driven solutions.
Cynthia is skilled at building and mentoring strong, diverse management teams. She managed the Housing Choice Voucher Program for the Seattle Housing Authority, which facilitates housing for 10,000 low-income individuals/families. As CFO for the Public Health Department, she motivated staff during an extraordinarily stressful period, as the department experienced major budget cuts, new financial management systems, and preparation for health care reform.
Cynthia said of her current engagement, “I’m enjoying serving as the Interim Executive Director for the King Conservation District. The mission of the organization, to promote the sustainable use of natural resources through responsible stewardship, is important to me and the staff are incredible. My experience gained through the Interim Executive Academy as well as the support I continue to get from Third Sector have helped me to feel confident in leading this organization during this transition.“

King Conservation District (KCD) is a natural resources assistance agency authorized by Washington State and guided by the Washington State Conservation Commission. The mission is to promote the sustainable use of natural resources through responsible stewardship. Since 1949, KCD has been helping the people of King County manage their natural resources. KCD staff educate landowners, schools, scientists, consultants and agencies in how to recognize problem situations and how to avoid creating them. KCD also provides technical assistance in solving their problems.
Third Sector Company and the graduates of Interim Executives Academy are available to provide vetted, highly-trained nonprofit interim executive leadership. From the training and experience at Interim Executives Academy, the graduates can provide a series of protocols and deliverables to ensure a successful interim leader engagement.
