Third Sector Company is thrilled to announce that Pam Herman has been selected as the Interim Executive Director of the Alumni Association of Mills College (AAMC) in Oakland, California.
Founded in 1879, the AAMC is an independent nonprofit organization that promotes the interests of Mills College alumnae—who number more than 26,000—through action, information, and lifelong connections and learning.
The AAMC Board said in a statement, “Pam’s strengths include implementation of strong governance and policies, strategic planning, financial planning, managing endowments, and engaging in board development.
“With her leadership skills and partnership with the Board of Governors, we hope to restore a strong and vibrant AAMC that will serve all members for many years to come.”
This is Pam’s first engagement as an Interim Executive Director. Her previous work was as the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Foundation of the West. She also volunteers in her alumni chapter, which made her a great candidate for the AAMC.
“The AAMC needs to articulate its new vision and purpose,” said Pam of her engagement. “The AAMC has been for most of its tenure a volunteer organization. I am proud to be its first Executive staff in over 2 decades. The leadership hired me to lead this transition, provide organization and stability as it pivots to its new beginning. I am honored to be here to help tell the story of 170 years of women’s empowerment and education.”
Pam is a graduate of Interim Executives Academy Class #7 and offers over 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience. As a successful Executive Director and Development Director, Pam has earned a reputation for expanding nonprofit organizations to meet and exceed mission goals, ensuring solid financial footings with established programs and policies, and building strong community coalitions and nonprofit corporate relationships. Pam earned a BSc in Human Biology from Sacramento, California State University and a Master in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
